　　Good evening, ladies and gentlemen.

　　Before my speech, I'd like to show my gratitude to the service and sacrifice of English Union. Thank you for offering me such a fabulous opportunity to exchange with other English lovers. My name is Yang Longbo, a boy majoring in Automation in Chang'an University. My favorite motto is “Follow your heart”. Former CEO of Apple Steve Jobs once said," If you live each day as if it were the last, you'll certainly be right.", which made a deep impression on me. He has used his life to prove the truth of this saying.

　　Realizing that our time is limited has helped him make considerable difficult choices in life. Because almost everything-all expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment and failure-will run away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Don't let your inner voice be overwhelmed by the noise of others' opinions. What is most important is having the courage to follow your own heart and intuition. Somehow they already know what you truly want to become. Live everyday as if it were the last of your life and make your life better.

　　I am a third year master major in automation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P. R. China. With tremendous interest in Industrial Engineering, I am writing to apply for acceptance into your Ph.D. graduate program.

　　Education background

　　In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science &; Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. During the following undergraduate study, my academic records kept distinguished among the whole department. I was granted First Class Prize every semester,In 1999, I got the privilege to enter the graduate program waived of the admission test.

　　At the period of my graduate study, my overall GPA(3.77/4.0) ranked top 5% in the department. In the second semester, I became teacher assistant that is given to talented and matured students only. This year, I won the Acer Scholarship as the one and only candidate in my department, which is the ultimate accolade for distinguished students endowed by my university. Presently, I am preparing my graduation thesis and trying for the honor of Excellent Graduation Thesis.

　　Research experience and academic activity

　　When a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began to narrow down my interest for my future research. With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab, I designed a simulation program for transportation scheduling system. It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled a sewage analysis &; dispose project for Nanjing sewage treatment plant. This was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.

　　In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future research interests include: Network Scheduling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research (especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybrid system performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.

In this term, I make a little progress in my study. In my life, I have my parents’ love, and many, many people’s love. I am happy. I achieved so much, and I also lost so much. My star sign is Aquarius. It represents kindness and wisdom. But I don’t think I am such a clever person. Maybe I am modest. Aquarius has many friends. It also says that some people think I am strange because I hate to be like others.

　　I try to do everything differently. I like yellow the most. Yellow is the color of the sun, it can remind me of a warm, sunny day. Yellow is also the color of wisdom. And I like it because it is one of the colors that are vivid. Of course, most students have problems in their study. I don’t know how to make progress. I think I should work harder. That is the only way. I like reading very much. My favorite writer is GuoJingming. And now I am reading a book called ‘Gone with Wind’. I keep reading half an hour every day. I like English and Chinese best. I want to establish an English club.

　　Now i will introduce myself briefly,i am 21 years old,born in heilongjiang province ,northeast of china,and i am curruently a senior student at beijing uni.my major is packaging engineering.and i will receive my bachelor degree after my graduation in june.in the past 4 years,i spend most of my time on study,i have passed CET4/6 with a ease. and i have acquired basic knowledge of packaging and publishing both in theory and in practice. besides, i have attend Several packaging exhibition hold in Beijing, this is our advantage study here, i have taken a tour to some big factory and company. through these i have a deeply understanding of domestic packaging industry. compared to developed countries such as us, unfortunately, although we have made extraordinary progress since 1978,our packaging industry are still underdeveloped, mess, unstable, the situation of employees in this field are awkard. but i have full confidence in a bright future if only our economy can keep the growth pace still. i guess you maybe interested in the reason itch to law, and what is my plan during graduate study life, i would like to tell you that pursue law is one of my lifelong goal,i like my major packaging and i wont give up,if i can pursue my master degree here i will combine law with my former education. i will work hard in thesefields ,patent ,trademark, copyright, on the base of my years study in department of p&;p, my character?

　　I cannot describe it well, but i know i am optimistic and confident. sometimes i prefer to stay alone, reading, listening to music, but i am not lonely, i like to chat with my classmates, almost talk everything ,my favorite pastime is valleyball,playing cards or surf online. through college life,i learn how to balance between study and entertainment. by the way, i was a actor of our amazing drama club. i had a few glorious memory on stage. that is my pride.

　　I live in chengdu with my family.

　　Both my parents are teachers of a college, I study in balizhuang school which was known as chengdu foreign lauguage school.

　　After graduate,I went to beijing for further study.Soon I became a student of foreign affair college, received bachelor degree.

　　When I came back, I found a job in mianyang, entering the changhong company, became an employee of the export department, which last for almost two years.

　　During that time, I began to think, will my life be like this forever, I'm not really content with such assistant job. At that time, the company decided to move our department to zhongshan which is in guangdong. I made an agreement with the company, ended the contract.

　　After that, i went back to chengdu, work in a small export company now.
